New Castle County Police have arrested 23-year-old Michael Burnette for the shooting that occurred Monday afternoon in the community of Wilton.
County Detectives continued their investigation into the shooting of a 43-year-old man by arresting Michael Burnette. Through their investigation, detectives identified Michael Burnette as the suspect and subsequently obtained warrants for his arrest. Michael Burnette was arrested yesterday (November 1) in front of his home in the 2700 block of West 5th St in the City of Wilmington. Michael Burnette was taken into custody by Special Investigations Squad and Mobile Enforcement Team officers without incident.
Michael Burnette was charged with first-degree assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a person prohibited due to a prior felony conviction. He was arraigned and committed to Young Correctional Institution after failing to post $50,000 cash-only bail. He was issued a no-contact order with the victim.
