Police Arrest Man Following Domestic Incident with a Weapon

New Castle County Police have arrested 32-year-old Brian Kenney following a domestic incident in the community of Murray Manor

(Newark, Del. – 19713) On Saturday (October 8) at about 1:40 a.m., police were called to the 500 block of Sixth Ave for a domestic dispute involving a weapon.  The reporting person advised that Brian Kenney had fired a gun in the residence during an argument – no one was shot.

Responding officers confirmed that everyone besides Brian Kenney fled the residence and established a perimeter.  Brian Kenney exited the residence and did not comply with officers’ commands to be placed under arrest.  Officers utilized their departmentally-issued Tasers to take Brian Kenney into custody without further incident.

Upon a search of his person, officers located two concealed firearms.

Detectives responded and assumed the investigation.  Detectives were granted a search warrant for Brian Kenney’s residence.  Upon the search, detectives located Xanax, an AK-47 rifle, a shotgun, a sawed-off shotgun and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.

Brian Kenney was charged with two counts of aggravated menacing, two counts of possession of a firearm/weapon during the commission of a felony, possession of a destructive weapon, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, strangulation, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, third-degree assault, possession of a controlled substance.  He was arraigned and committed to Young Correctional Institution after failing to post $291,000 cash-only bail.  He was issued a no-contact order with the victim and the residence.
