The New Castle County Police, Traffic Services Unit, responded to a bicyclist struck on Saienna Boulevard in New Castle yesterday afternoon.
(New Castle, Del.-19720) On Thursday (11/17) at approximately 3:30 p.m., New Castle County Police responded to the intersection of Saienna Boulevard at Wawa in reference to an accident. When officers arrived they located the 83-year-old bicyclist suffering from injuries to his leg and hip.
The investigation revealed the bicyclist was traveling through the intersection when he was struck by a 2015 Chevy Impala attempting to make a right turn out the parking lot.
The bicyclist was transported to Christiana Medical Center where officials learned he had a fractured hip. He was admitted in stable condition.
The 25-year-old operator was issued a citation for failing to yield the right of way.
