New Castle County Police have arrested Shareff Hamilton, 18, and Denzel Massengill, 20, after they were caught stealing from vehicles in the community of Forrest Glenn.
(Bear, Del. – 19702) Early Monday (November 21) morning at about 4:00a.m., D-Squad and B-Squad officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Wimbledon Ct in reference to a theft in progress. The reporting person advised that they had caught two people breaking into his vehicle. Upon arrival, police observed that the reporting person had detained Shareff Hamilton. Police arrested Shareff Hamilton and further located the other person, later identified as Denzel Massengill. Denzel Massengill was arrested in the area in a vehicle without incident. Police further located another vehicle on Wimbledon Ct running with the keys in it. Through the investigation, police determined that both the vehicle Denzel Massengill was operating and the vehicle left running were stolen. Officers found evidence that Shareff Hamilton and Denzel Massengill had been in possession of the stolen vehicle left running and were in the area stealing from parked vehicles in the community of Forrest Glenn.
Shareff Hamilton was charged with third-degree burglary, second-degree conspiracy, theft of a motor vehicle, two-counts of third-degree conspiracy, five counts of misdemeanor theft and one count of attempted misdemeanor theft. He was arraigned and committed to Young Correctional Institution after failing to post $12,000 secured bail.
Denzel Massengill was charged with third-degree burglary, second-degree conspiracy, two counts of theft of a motor vehicle, two counts of third-degree conspiracy, seven counts of misdemeanor theft, driving while suspended, malicious mischief by motor vehicle, reckless driving, failure to have insurance, failure to have registration in possession and improper backing. He was arraigned and committed to Young Correctional Institution after failing to post $14,500 secured bail.
