County Police Make Arrest in Cold Case Homicide

New Castle County Police have arrested Kevin “Chevy” Miller, 37, for the 2012 murder of Jeremiah “Farmer” MacDonald which occurred in the community of Sparrow Run.

On July 17, 2012, County Police responded to the unit block of Heron Court for a report of a person shot.  Upon arrival, police found Jeremiah MacDonald, known as “Farmer,” suffering multiple gunshot wounds.  Jeremiah “Farmer” MacDonald was pronounced dead at the scene.  Major Crimes Squad Detectives conducted the investigation until it was eventually turned over to the Cold Case Homicide Squad.

Cold Case Homicide Squad Detectives continued the investigation by re-examining evidence and re-interviewing witnesses.  Through their investigation, Cold Case Homicide Squad Detectives identified Kevin Miller, known as “Chevy,” as the suspect.

On November 21, 2016, with the assistance and support of the Delaware Department of Justice, Cold Case Homicide Squad Detectives presented the case to a grand jury and obtained an indictment for Kevin “Chevy” Miller.

Kevin “Chevy” Miller was arrested on December 2, 2016, and charged with first-degree murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a person prohibited due to a previous felony conviction.  He remains at Vaughn Correctional Center where he was being held on unrelated charges.
