New Castle County Police have arrested 19-year-old Malachi Dendy for firearm and drug charges following a pedestrian stop in the community of Wilton.
(New Castle, Del. – 19720) On Wednesday (November 30), Mobile Enforcement Team (MET) officers were conducting surveillance in the community of Wilton after receiving information on drug activity in the area. Officers observed Malachi Dendy loitering in the area of Deen Street and Pell Street, directly next to a “No Loitering” sign.
Officers continued to watch Malachi Dendy and observed him roll and smoke a marijuana cigarette. Officers stopped Malachi Dendy and confirmed that he was in possession of marijuana. Upon a search incident to Malachi Dendy’s arrest, police discovered a concealed fully-loaded handgun as well as more marijuana on his person.
Continuing the investigation, MET officers obtained a search warrant for Malachi Dendy’s residence in the unit block of Deen Street. In the residence, police recovered more marijuana and ammunition.
Malachi Dendy was charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, carrying a concealed firearm, possession of a firearm and a controlled substance at the same time, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and loitering. He was arraigned and committed to Young Correctional Institute after failing to post $13,003 secured bail.
