Police Arrest Three Following Robbery and Shots Fired at Officer

New Castle County Police are currently investigating a robbery in the community of Westover Hills resulting in shots fired at police.

Wilmington, Del.- 19807- Earlier this evening (July 27) at about 6:45 p.m., County Police were dispatched to the 1100 block of Westover Rd for a robbery that just occurred.

Officers arrived, checked the area and located a person matching one of the suspect’s descriptions.  Police attempted to stop the suspect at which time gunfire was exchanged between the suspect and an officer.  A foot pursuit ensued and additional gunfire was exchanged.  The suspect was ultimately taken into custody in the area of Greenhill Ave and West 7th Street.

Neither the police officer nor the suspect was injured during the incident.

Two additional suspects were taken into custody without incident in the area.  No suspects are believed to be outstanding at this time.

Detectives are currently on scene conducting the investigation and collecting evidence.

This investigation is in the preliminary stages and further information will be released as it becomes available.
