SAFE STREETS TASK FORCE DETECTIVES MAKE GUN AND DRUG DEALING ARREST

(New Castle, DE 19720) During the months of September (2018) detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police, Safe Streets Task Force spearheaded an investigation into reports that 40-year-old Malik Stevens was distributing drugs along the Route 9 corridor. 

On Tuesday (September 25) detectives were able to stop a gold Ford Edge for a traffic violation. Malik Stevens happened to be the driver of the vehicle, during the stop detectives located a large sum of money as well as trace amounts of Marijuana. The detectives’ investigation led to a residence in the unit block of Oakwood Court in the community of Mansion Park.

At this residence, detectives seized 722 grams of Marijuana, various packaging material, two 9mm handguns and $3,733.00 of cash. The investigation also revealed that one of the handguns had been reported stolen.

Malik Stevens was charged with two counts of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, two counts of felony Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited, two counts of felony Possession of Ammunition by a Person Prohibited, two counts of felony Possession of Weapon While also in Possession of a Controlled Substance, felony Receiving a Stolen Firearm, Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance in a Tier 1 quantity, Felony Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance, Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Failure to Utilize Turn Signal.

Malik Stevens was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11 and held in lieu of $124,150.00 cash-only bail.
