VEHICLE STOP LEADS TO DRUGS AND GUN ARREST

New Castle County Police arrest 29-year old New Castle man for drug and firearm charges. 

(Wilmington, 19805) On Sunday (January 13), officers from the New Castle County Police stopped a dark-colored Impala for a traffic violation in the area of Alban Drive and Bonwood Road, Wilmington.  During the car stop, the officers contacted the driver of the vehicle; 29-year-old Kwame Owens.

During the interaction, officers noticed evidence of Marijuana which lead to a search.  During a search of the car, officers located A .380 caliber handgun, 4.57 grams of crack cocaine, 0.462 grams of heroin, 7 tablets of ecstasy, 1 Xanax bar, 1 acetaminophen/codeine tablet, 7.4 grams of marijuana, $1,149 of suspected drug proceeds and related paraphernalia.

Kwame Owens was charged with one count of felony Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony,  one count of felony Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon, one count of felony Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited, one count of felony Possession of Ammunition by a Person Prohibited, One count of felony Possession of a Firearm by a Person Subject of a Protection from Abuse Order, one count of felony Theft of a Firearm, two counts of Possession With Intent to Deliver a controlled substance, three counts of misdemeanor Possession of a Controlled Substance, one count of misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana, one count of misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Failure to have Insurance Identification in Possession and Failure to Stop at a Stop Sign.

Kwame Owens was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11 and held in lieu of $66,300 secured bail.
