POLICE APPREHEND BURGLAR IN RAMBLETON ACRES

(New Castle, DE 19720) Last Saturday (June 8), patrol officers from the New Castle County Division of Police were dispatched to the unit block of West Balbach Avenue in the community of Rambleton Acres for a burglary in progress.  When the officers arrived at the scene they saw a white male matching the description of the suspect run into the rear yard of the residence.  The officers, assisted by New Castle County Police K-9 (Ace), and officers from the New Castle City Police Department, gave chase.

After running down Holden Drive, the officers were able to catch the suspect as he ran behind houses on Rambo Drive.   Following a brief struggle, the subject was taken into custody.  The suspect was then transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries. No officers were injured.

Detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police Criminal Investigations Unit arrived at the scene and assumed the investigation.  After an extensive investigation, the detectives discovered that the suspect, who was identified as 35-year-old Wilbur Medley of New Castle, was responsible for two additional residential burglaries that day.   The investigation also revealed that Medley was responsible for four additional burglaries, all reported last week,  in the area of Rambleton Acres.

Medley was charged with three counts of felony Burglary 2nd degree, two counts of felony Attempted Burglary 2nd degree, two counts of felony Burglary 3rd Degree, one count of felony Theft, one count of felony Attempted Theft, two counts of misdemeanor Theft, three counts of misdemeanor Attempted Theft, two counts of misdemeanor Criminal Mischief, one count of misdemeanor Possession of a Controlled Substance (Tier 2 quantity) and one count of misdemeanor Resisting Arrest.

Wilbur Medley was arraigned at a local hospital by Justice of the Peace Court 11.  He was subsequently held in lieu of $86,900 secured bail.
