POLICE INVESTIGATE CAR CRASH INVOLVING A BICYCLE

(New Castle 19720) Yesterday, (September 14) The New Castle County Division of Police Traffic Services Unit was tasked with investigating a crash that involved a gray Nissan Altima and a bicycle. The crash occurred at the intersection of Wilton Boulevard and Old Forge Road, in the community of Wilton Club Apartments.

When the investigators arrived, they learned that both the vehicle and the bicycle were traveling northbound on Wilton boulevard. The operator of the bicycle was found to have moved into the center lane and struck the Nissan on the rear fender. The officers and emergency medical personnel administered first aid and then transported him to a local hospital.

The subject, who was not wearing a helmet, sustained serious, life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital where he has been admitted.

This is an on-going investigation.
