POLICE SEEK PUBLIC’S ASSISTANCE IN LOCATING THEFT SUSPECT

(Middletown, DE 19709) On September 6, 2020, officers from the New Castle County Division of Police were dispatched to the community of Back Creek for a Theft report.  When the officers arrived, they learned that the victim was contacted by 54-year-old William “Bill” Wheatley via social media. He stated that he was going through hard times and needed money.  The victim then sent him some money.   When Wheatley asked for more money, she offered to pay him to do odd jobs around her house.

He obliged and while he was doing work at the house the victim noticed multiple items were missing.  The victim made him leave and subsequently contacted 911.
