(Middletown, De 19709) On Wednesday, (Sept 23) at approximately 8:15 a.m., the Middletown Police Department was notified for a serious vehicle crash that occurred on Middletown Warwick Rd (SR301 SB) at Sandhill Drive. The investigators’ preliminary investigation revealed that the motorcycle was traveling southbound on Route 301 in the travel lane approaching the intersection of Sandhill Drive. The Jeep Patriot was traveling northbound on Route 301 in the left turn lane to cross over to Sandhill Dr. The Jeep Patriot turned to travel on Sandhill Dr but was struck on the front right passenger side by the motorcycle as it crossed the intersection.
Both the driver and the passenger of the Jeep Patriot were taken to an area hospital where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries and released.
The investigation is still ongoing; however, it does appear that alcohol is not a factor.
