PATROL OFFICERS MAKE GUN ARREST AFTER SUSPECT RESISTS ARREST

(Bear, DE 19701) Patrol officers with the New Castle County Division of Police arrested 22-year-old Dwayne Arnold of Bear following a traffic stop.

On Friday, January 17, 2025, around 4:35 p.m., officers were conducting proactive patrol in the School Bell Road and Nursery Drive area when they observed a Nissan Sentra speeding over the posted limit. A traffic stop was conducted, and during the investigation, they found that the passenger, Dwayne, had several warrants for his arrest. Officers went to place Dwayne under arrest, at which time he began fighting officers, which resulted in an officer tasing Dwayne before taking him into custody. During a search of Dwayne, officers located a loaded Taurus G2C 9mm along with 41 grams of marijuana.

Dwayne was taken to a local area hospital for treatment. The officers sustained minor injuries however medical attention was not needed.

Dwayne was charged with the following crimes:

• Two Felony Counts of Assault 2nd Injure a Law Enforcement Officer

• One Felony Count of Resisting Arrest with Force or Violence

• One Felony Count of Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon

• One Felony Count of Possession of a Firearm

• One Felony Count of Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony

• One Felony Count of Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited

Dwayne was arraigned by JP Court 11 and committed to the Howard Young Correctional Institution after being given $70,000.00 cash bail.
