SUSPECTED IMPAIRED DRIVER ARRESTED AFTER FLEEING THE SCENE

(Newark, DE. 19702) On Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at approximately 1:08 a.m., Officers from the New Castle County Division of Police, while on patrol, observed a Subaru Outback stopped at the intersection of Old Baltimore Pike and Sunset Lake Road. The driver of the vehicle, later identified as 30-year-old Christopher Lolly of Wilmington, appeared unresponsive in the driver’s seat. Officers activated their emergency lights and tried to contact Lolly. Upon realizing their presence, Lolly fled the vehicle stop while they attempted to wake him.  The Officers attempted to follow the vehicle but lost sight of it near the intersection of Route 896 and Old Baltimore Pike.

A short time later, an Officer discovered a vehicle on fire in the tree line near Old Baltimore Pike and Otts Chapel Road. The vehicle’s doors and trunk were open but unoccupied and quickly became fully engulfed in flames. Upon investigation, the Officer identified the vehicle as the Subaru Outback that had fled earlier.

The Delaware State Police Aviation Unit, Trooper 4, was called to assist with an aerial search and soon spotted a person emerging from the woods near Otts Chapel Road and getting into an SUV. Officers quickly responded, stopped the vehicle, and identified Christopher Lolly—now a passenger in the SUV—as the same individual who had fled the earlier vehicle stop. As Officers attempted to arrest Lolly, he resisted and tried to destroy a bottle of liquid, suspected of being PCP (phencyclidine). Lolly was transported to a local hospital to treat minor injuries and was later released.

Christopher Lolly was transported to New Castle County Police headquarters, where he was charged with the following crimes.

Christopher Lolly was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution after failing to post a $1,155 unsecured bail, along with a $41,500 cash bail related to an outstanding warrant issued by the Wilmington Police Department.
