(Delaware City, DE 19706) On Monday, July 7, 2025, at approximately 9:27 a.m., Officers from the New Castle County Division of Police responded to a report of a shooting in the 100 block of Fifth Street within the Delaware City Trailer Park. Upon arrival, Officers located 39-year-old Craig Anderson suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite life-saving efforts, Craig Anderson unfortunately succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
Through investigative efforts, Officers determined that 22-year-old Shane Brank had been involved in a dispute with the victim. During the altercation, Brank retrieved a firearm and fired multiple rounds, striking the Victim, before fleeing the area.
Patrol Officers, along with Officers from the K9 Unit, Mounted Unit, Traffic Services Unit, Fugitive Apprehension and Surveillance Team, Active Crime Trend Team, SWAT Team, Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) Unit, and Crime Analysis Unit, coordinated efforts to gather real-time intelligence regarding Brank’s possible location. Officers conducted an extensive search of the terrain along the C&D Canal, nearby wooded areas, and surrounding residential neighborhoods. At approximately 1:10 p.m., Shane Brank was located in the backyard of a residence in the 200 block of Seventh Street in Delaware City and was taken into custody without further incident.
Shane Brank was transported to New Castle County Police Headquarters, where he was charged with the following offenses:
- One felony count of Murder First Degree
- One felony count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony
Shane Brank was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution after failing to pay $560,000.00 cash bail.
