STRAW PURCHASE FIREARMS INVESTIGATION LEADS TO ARRESTS AND GUN RECOVERIES

In August 2025, Detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police High Risk Offenders Team, working alongside agents from the ATF Wilmington Field Office, opened an investigation into suspected straw purchases of firearms. A straw purchase occurs when someone buys a firearm on behalf of another person who is unable or legally prohibited from purchasing it themselves.

Detectives identified 21-year-old Noah Williams of Elkton, MD, as a suspect, showing that he had purchased multiple firearms and ammunition, some of which are believed to be linked to criminal incidents in New Castle County. They also identified 18-year-old Marco Mirkovic of Newark, DE, as being involved.

On Thursday, August 14, 2025, Detectives stopped Mirkovic during a traffic stop and found him in possession of 23 grams of crack cocaine. During the investigation, two firearms purchased by Williams were recovered from Mirkovic’s residence.

Noah Williams was charged with the following offenses:

Noah Williams was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released after posting $5,000.00 unsecure bail.


Marco Mirkovic was charged with the following offenses:

Marco Mirkovic was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released after posting $9,554.00 secure bail.
