From May through July 2025, the New Castle County Division of Police responded to numerous reports of vehicle break-ins across the county, particularly in the communities of Christiana Farms Townhomes and Coopers Place in Newark, Mermaid Run Condos in Wilmington, and Forest Glen in Bear.
During the investigation, Patrol Officers and Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Unit identified two suspects: 26-year-old Cedrick Facon of Wilmington and 22-year-old Sadir Black of Wilmington. The case was then turned over to the Fugitive Apprehension and Surveillance Team to locate and apprehend them.
On Friday, August 22, 2025, Detectives, with assistance from the United States Marshals Task Force, located and arrested the suspects at a motel on Governor Printz Boulevard in Claymont, DE. Detectives from the Fugitive Apprehension and Surveillance Team subsequently executed a search warrant, recovering a handgun and multiple stolen items that further connected the suspects to the reported incidents.
Cedrick Facon was transported to the New Castle County Police Headquarters, where he was charged with the following offenses:
- Five felony counts of burglary third degree
- Five felony counts of conspiracy second degree
- One felony count of possession of a firearm by a person prohibited
- One felony count of receiving stolen property.
- Twenty-nine misdemeanor counts of unlawful use of a payment card
- Twelve misdemeanor counts of theft under $1500
- Two misdemeanor counts of conspiracy third degree
- One misdemeanor count of attempt to commit theft under $1500
- One misdemeanor count of resisting arrest.
Facon also had outstanding felony, and misdemeanor warrants from other in-state police agencies. He was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution after failing to post $101,500.00 cash bail.
Sadir Black was transported to the New Castle County Police Headquarters, where he was charged with the following offenses:
- Six felony counts of conspiracy second degree
- Five felony counts of burglary third degree
- One felony count of possession of a firearm by a person prohibited
- One felony count of receiving stolen property
- Six misdemeanor counts of theft under $1500
- One misdemeanor count of attempt to commit theft under $1500
- One misdemeanor count of conspiracy third degree
- One misdemeanor count of unlawful use of a payment card
Black also had outstanding misdemeanor warrants from other in-state police agencies. He was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution after failing to post $55,000.00 cash bail.
