VIOLENT CRIME INTERDICTION TEAMS’ INVESTIGATION LEADS TO DRUG AND FIREARM ARRESTS

(New Castle, DE 19720) In August 2025, Detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police Violent Crime Interdiction Team initiated an investigation into the distribution of controlled substances in New Castle. During the course of the investigation, two suspects were identified: 36-year-old Dane Jones of New Castle and 31-year-old Jaheel Parker of Wilmington.

On Monday, August 25, detectives observed both men in the 3000 block of New Castle Avenue. When officers attempted to contact the men, they both fled. Dane Jones was apprehended a short distance away. During the pursuit, Jaheel Parker discarded a black satchel containing a 9mm Ruger handgun with its serial number removed. Jaheel Parker was able to avoid capture at that time.

A search warrant was later executed on a vehicle that Jaheel Parker had exited before running. Detectives recovered 32.58 grams of crack cocaine, packaging materials, a digital scale, and documents belonging to Parker. Jones was taken to New Castle County Police Headquarters.

Detectives charged Dane Jones with the following:

• Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony

• Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited

• Manufacture/Deliver/PWID Controlled Substance Tier 3

• Possession of a Weapon with an Obliterated Serial Number

• Conspiracy Second Degree

• Resisting Arrest

• Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Jones was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $100,000 cash bail.

On Tuesday, September 30, detectives located Parker in the 1600 block of N. DuPont Highway. He was taken into custody without incident and found to have 3.2 grams of crack cocaine. He was transported to New Castle County Police Headquarters.

Detectives charged Jaheel Parker with the following:

• Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony

• Manufacture/Deliver/PWID Controlled Substance Tier 3

• Possession of a Weapon with an Obliterated Serial Number

• Conspiracy Second Degree

• Resisting Arrest

• Two Counts of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

• Possession of a Controlled Substance

Parker was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $50,000 cash bail.
