Scam Alert: Police Impersonation Calls

We were really hoping phone scammers had found a new career path… but it looks like they’ve decided to stick with their old tricks.

In the past week, we have seen an increase in scammers impersonating officers from the New Castle County Division of Police and other law enforcement agencies to target unsuspecting victims. We want to remind everyone how these scams work and help keep our community informed so you can protect yourself and your loved ones.

🔍 How the Scam Works:

Scammers may call using the actual names of NCCPD officers or officers from other agencies, claiming you have outstanding warrants or unpaid fines. They often rely on fear and intimidation, threatening arrest or legal action if immediate payment isn’t made. Law enforcement will never demand payment over the phone or threaten arrest if you don’t pay.
