OVERDOSE INVESTIGATION RESULTS IN ARREST, DRUG, AND FIREARM CHARGES

(Wilmington, DE 19802) Detectives from the New Castle County Police Department’s Drug and Human Trafficking Investigations Team have arrested 32-year-old Kane Stanford of Wilmington on multiple felony drug charges following an investigation connected to a suspected drug overdose death that began in March 2026.

As the investigation continued, Detectives obtained search warrants for a residence in the unit block of Kings Grant Way in Wilmington, which was linked to Stanford.

On Tuesday, May 12, 2026, Detectives executed the search warrants and seized approximately 770 bags of suspected fentanyl, a loaded 9mm handgun, a .556 caliber rifle, and a loaded .556 caliber ammunition magazine. Detectives also confirmed that Kane Stanford was prohibited from possessing firearms.

The investigation into the overdose death remains ongoing.

Kane Stanford was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution after failing to post $230,000 cash bail.
