Celebrate America’s 250th Safely: Know Delaware’s Fireworks Laws

As we celebrate America’s 250th Independence Day, the New Castle County Division of Police hopes everyone enjoys the holiday safely with family and friends. Whether you’re attending a backyard barbecue, spending time with loved ones, or watching a fireworks display, remember that fireworks are regulated in Delaware. Knowing the law before you celebrate can help make this historic Fourth of July safe, enjoyable, and memorable for everyone.

📜 Know the Law: Fireworks are regulated in Delaware. Before using any fireworks, review the State Fire Marshal’s guidelines: https://statefiremarshal.delaware.gov/investigations/fireworks/

🎇 Leave Fireworks to the Professionals: The safest way to enjoy fireworks is by attending a licensed public fireworks display. Professional shows are carefully planned with safety in mind and provide an incredible experience without the risk of serious injury or property damage.

As Always:

🍻 If You Drink, Don’t Drive: Plan ahead. Designate a sober driver, use a rideshare service, or arrange for a safe ride home.

🏠 Protect Your Home: Lock your doors, windows, and vehicles before heading out to celebrate.

🚘 Drive Responsibly: Stay focused, obey traffic laws, and never drive impaired or distracted.

🐾 Keep Pets Safe: Fireworks can be frightening for animals. Keep pets indoors in a secure, comfortable place.

📞 Report Non-Emergencies: To report illegal fireworks or noise complaints, call (302) 573-2800. Please reserve 9-1-1 for emergencies only.

From all of us at the New Castle County Division of Police, we wish you and your family a safe, enjoyable, and memorable Fourth of July as we celebrate America’s 250th birthday
