(New Castle, DE 19720) – On Monday, July 6, 2026, officers with the New Castle County Division of Police responded to the Clearview Manor community for a report of a stolen firearm. During the investigation, Officers identified a 17-year-old male from Wilmington as a possible suspect.
Detectives assigned to the Active Crime Trends Team responded to assist with the investigation. With assistance from the Delaware Department of Correction Probation and Parole and the Newark Police Department Street Crime Unit, Detectives located the 17-year-old in the area of 3rd Street and Delamore Place in the City of Wilmington.
As the investigation continued, Detectives developed information linking the 17-year-old to a residence in the 1600 block of West Street in Wilmington. Detectives obtained and executed a search warrant at the residence, where they recovered two firearms and took a 16-year-old male into custody.
Both juveniles were transported to New Castle County Police Headquarters.
The 17-year-old male was charged with:
- One felony count of Possession of a Firearm by a Person Under 21
- One felony count of Possession of Ammunition by a Person Under 21
- One felony count of Burglary Third Degree
- One felony count of Theft of a Firearm
The 17-year-old was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to a juvenile detention facility after failing to post $30,000 cash bail.
The 16-year-old male was charged with:
- Two felony counts of Possession of a Firearm by a Person Under 21
- Two felony counts of Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
- One felony count of Possession of Ammunition by a Person Under 21
The 16-year-old was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to a juvenile detention facility after failing to post $50,000 cash bail.
