Police Arrest Two for Burglary, Thank Public for Assistance

New Castle County Police have arrested David Rawley, 40, and Robert Ferguson, 36, for burglary and related offenses.

On Tuesday (June 6) police responded to two daytime burglaries to residences.  The first occurred in the 2700 block of Old County Rd.  During this burglary, which occurred at about 11:50 a.m., the victim was sleeping in their house and was awoken by a knocking on the door.  The victim walked into the living room and found a man, later identified as David Rawley, in the house.  David Rawley fled, the victim called police and was uninjured.

The second occurred in the 1500 block of Old Milltown Rd (see previous release).

Police obtained evidence from both scenes, which included surveillance footage from Old Milltown Rd, and asked for the public’s help in identifying the suspect.  Evidence recovered at the scenes, along with tips from the public, implicated David Rawley and Robert Ferguson in the burglaries.

Police stopped and subsequently arrested David Rawley and Robert Ferguson yesterday (June 8) as they drove in the area of New Rd in Elsmere.  Both were taken into custody without incident.

David Rawley, of the 800 block of New Rd, was charged with two counts of second-degree burglary, misdemeanor theft, attempted theft, criminal mischief, conspiracy and selling stolen property.  He was arraigned and committed to Young Correctional Institute after failing to post $25,000 cash-only bail.
