Elderly Woman Saved Through Senior Roll Call Program

A 99-year-old female had fallen in her residence and was unable to answer her senior roll call.

(Wilmington, Del.-19803) Today(August 25) at 6:00 a.m.,  New Castle County Police were dispatched to the 400 block of Marianna Dr for a check on the welfare. Police learned that a 99-year-old female subscriber failed to answer her senior roll call. A neighbor was alerted by the service who was able to make contact with the elderly woman.

She was found conscious but had fallen which resulted in her to be unable to answer her phone. It was also learned that the battery in her medical alert device was not working.  She was transported to an area hospital for evaluation.

Juvenile Suspect Arrested following BB Gun Shooting and Vehicle Pursuit

New Castle County Police have arrested a 15-year-old boy following a BB gun shooting and vehicle pursuit in the Marshallton Area.

(Wilmington, Del. – 19808) Today (Aug 23) at about 8:00 a.m., County Police were called to the Creeks at Marshallton Apartments for an adult female who had been shot by a BB gun.  Police arrived on scene and learned that a suspect operating a black SUV had shot the female with a BB gun and then fled.  Police were able to quickly identify the suspect.

Police were also alerted to another BB gun shooting that occurred in the community of English Creek II today at about 8:30a.m.  During that incident, a 10-year-old boy was riding his bike when the same suspect shot him with the BB gun.

Police were able to locate the suspect in his vehicle and attempted to stop him.  The suspect fled from police and a vehicle pursuit ensued.  During the pursuit, the suspect struck an uninvolved vehicle.  Police then discontinued the pursuit for public safety reasons since the suspect had been identified.

Officers responded to the suspect’s residence in the 100 block of Stanton Rd.  When they arrived, police located the black SUV in the area.  Officers made contact with the suspect at the residence and he surrendered to police without further incident.

Police believe the black SUV to be stolen.

All of the victims in this case were evaluated at the scene and did not require further medical treatment.

The suspect is awaiting formal charging and arraignment.
