POLICE INVESTIGATE HOMICIDE IN THE COMMUNITY OF OVERVIEW GARDENS

(New Castle, De 19720) Last night (Nov 29), at approximately 5:00 p.m., patrol officers from the New Castle County Division of Police were dispatched to the area of Arbor Drive, in the community of Overview Gardens for the report of shots being fired.

Several patrol units arrived at the scene and located a 33-year-old, Eddie Johnson laying on the ground, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.  Lifesaving efforts were initiated; however, he was later pronounced deceased after being transported to an area hospital.

Detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police Criminal Investigations Unit arrived at the scene and assumed the investigation.

The investigation revealed that prior to the patrol units arrival, a second victim, a 37-year-old female, had already been transported to a local area hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. 

The detectives further learned that the second victim’s ex-boyfriend, 47-year-old, Vincent Young was outside of his house when the two victims drove by.  An argument ensued and the detectives learned that Young retrieved a handgun and fired at both of the victims. 

Responding officers  were able to take Young into custody at the scene. As a result of the investigation Vincent Young  was charged  with one count felony Murder 1st, two counts felony Possessions of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, one count of Felony Assault 2nd, and one count of misdemeanor Endangering the Welfare of a Child.  He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11 and held in lieu of $232,000 cash bail.

POLICE INVESTIGATE SHOOTING ON THANKSGIVING

(New Castle, DE 19720) Last night (Nov 26), at approximately 8:30 p.m., patrol officers from the New Castle County Division of Police were dispatched to the 1500 block of Stonebridge Blvd, in the community of Hampton Green Townhouses for a report of shots fired.

When the officers arrived, they located a black SUV idling in the parking lot. The officers were notified by dispatch that the SUV had been reported stolen from the City of Wilmington. When the officers examined the SUV, a 21-year-old male was seen laying across the front seats.  The male was found to be suffering from a gunshot wound to the torso area.  The officers immediately provided first aid and when paramedics arrived, he was transported to a local area hospital, where he was admitted for his injuries.

Detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police Criminal Investigations Unit arrived at the scene and assumed the investigation.  This investigation is ongoing and in its early stages.  Additional information will be provided as it becomes available.

INVESTIGATION UPDATE: POLICE ARREST JUVENILES IN CONNECTION TO WILTON HOMICIDE

Detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police have apprehended two male juvenile suspects in connection to the recent homicide that occurred in the community of Wilton in the area of Ashley Drive (New Castle, DE 19720).

On November 17, 2020 and November 20,2020, Officers and Detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police apprehended both juveniles without incident.

One juvenile is held in lieu of $1,040,000 cash bail.

The second juvenile was released with $21,000 unsecured bail.

Yet another senseless killing of a young man and sadly committed by juveniles who have altered their course of life.  I am grateful that our detectives worked tirelessly to solve this sad case and provide much needed answers to the victim’s family.” said New Castle County Police Chief Colonel Vaughn Bond Jr.
