POLICE ARREST MAN WITH GHOST GUN IN EDGEMOOR TERRACE.

(Wilmington, DE 19809) Yesterday (Aug 8), while on patrol in the community of Edgemoor Terrace, patrol officers from the New Castle County Division of Police observed an older model Dodge Shadow traveling on Polk Dr after turning off of Rysing Dr.  As the Shadow passed the officers,  they saw that the operator was not wearing his seatbelt and then observed that the vehicle was not displaying tags. The vehicle then quickly changed direction and turned onto North Stuyvesant.  When the officers activated their emergency equipment the Shadow came to a stop on South Stuyvesant.

The officers approached the vehicle and introduced themselves to the driver, 49-year-old William Lewis.  As they were speaking,  one of the officers observed the textured grip of a handgun underneath Lewis’ leg.  He was immediately taken into custody.  The officers then discovered that Lewis was wearing a shoulder holster under his hooded sweatshirt. Inside the shoulder holster were two fully loaded magazines.

The officers’ investigation revealed that the handgun was loaded, and it did not have any manufacturer information or a serial number. These firearms are commonly referred to as Ghost Guns

He was taken back to police headquarters and charged with one count of felony Possession of an Unfinished Firearm Frame or Receiver without Manufacturer and Serial Number, one count of Felony Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited (Violent Felony), one count of felony Possession of Ammunition by a Person Prohibited (Violent Felony), one count of Felony Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon (Firearm), and the following traffic charges: Failure to have Insurance, Operating an Unregistered Motor Vehicle, Duty to have License in Possession, and a Seatbelt violation.

He was arraigned by Justice of The Peace Court 2 and released on his own recognizance.

POLICE INVESTIGATE CARJACKING IN CLEARFIELD VILLAGE

(Claymont, DE 19703) Yesterday (Aug 7) at approximately 11:00 p.m., patrol officers from the New Castle County Division of Police were dispatched to the 3000 block of  Court Ave, in the community of Clearfield Village for the report of shots fired.

When officers arrived, they located an 80-year-old victim who reported that while he was looking for an item in his car, he was approached by three black males who had parked a white SUV in the middle of the road.  The suspects implied that they had a firearm and ordered the victim out of his vehicle.  As the victim began to exit, one of the suspects pulled the victim from his vehicle.   The victim who possesses a valid concealed carry permit pulled out a handgun and fired at the suspects.  The suspects fled in the victim’s vehicle and the white SUV.  The victim’s vehicle came to a sudden stop and the suspects subsequently fled on foot before being picked up by the operator of the white SUV. 

Detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police Criminal Investigations Unit arrived at the scene and assumed the investigation.  There was no indication that anyone was struck by gunfire.

As detectives were canvassing the area, a suspicious vehicle complaint was reported in the community of Londonderry Townhouses.   The caller reported that they observed three males and two females exit a white SUV before walking around the SUV with flashlights.   When officers arrived, the suspects fled from a white Ford Edge (SUV) which was discovered to be stolen from the city of Wilmington.   A 15-year- old male suspect and an 18-year-old female suspect were apprehended a short distance away.  The female suspect was identified as 18-year-old Asia Green.   Both suspects were transported to police headquarters. 

At police headquarters, detectives were able to uncover sufficient evidence to link these two suspects to the carjacking in Clearfield Village.  Both Asia Green (aka Taylor Thomas) and the 15-year-old male were charged with one count of felony Robbery 1st-Display What Appears to be a Deadly Weapon, one count of felony Aggravated Menacing, one count of felony Terroristic Threatening (Victim is 62 years old or older), and felony Conspiracy 2nd.

Green was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace Court 2 and held in lieu of $15,000 secured bail. The 15-year-old Male was arraigned by the New Castle County Family Court and held in lieu of $50,000 cash-only bail.

The investigation is still in its early stages and additional updates will follow.

POLICE ARREST PEEPING TOM IN COLLINS PARK

(New Castle 19720) On July 20th, 2022, patrol officers from the New Castle County Division of Police were dispatched to the 100 block of Killoran Dr, in the community of Collins Park for the report of a suspicious person.

When the officers arrived, they met with the 32-year-old victim and learned that she was in her kitchen and as she looked out of the window, she saw a male subject looking back at her.  She stated that she does not know who the male is, but he has been showing up on her property and standing on her front lawn. She added this all started when she accepted a friend request from him on a popular social media site.

Detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police Criminal Investigations Unit arrived at the scene and assumed the investigation.  From the social media account captured by the patrol officers, the detectives were able to identify 29-year-old Alexander Tillman as the suspect.

Yesterday, Tillman was taken into custody without incident and taken to police headquarters. 

He was charged with one count of misdemeanor Trespassing with the Intent to Peep. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court #2 and was subsequently released on his own recognizance.
