New Castle County Police have arrested 46-year-old Kevin Shilling for numerous thefts from vehicles in southern New Castle County.
Since the end of November, 2016, County Police have been investigating a string of thefts from motor vehicles in the communities of Bayberry North, Back Creek, Canal View and Windsor North at Hyett’s Corner. Through the investigation, police obtained surveillance photos of the suspect and the suspect’s vehicle. On Sunday (Dec. 4), patrol officers observed the suspect and the vehicle at the Rt-13 and Memorial Dr Wawa. Officers arrested the suspect, identified as Kevin Shilling, without incident and obtained a search warrant for the vehicle. Police located numerous stolen items inside the vehicle.
Kevin Shilling was charged with 14 counts of third-degree burglary, 5 counts of attempted third-degree burglary, felony theft, 14 counts of misdemeanor theft, 3 counts of attempted misdemeanor theft, unlawfully using a credit card and possession of heroin. He was arraigned and committed to Young Correctional Institution after failing to post $48,500 cash only bail. He was issued a no contact order with the victims.
