Stop for Loitering Nets Guns, Drugs

New Castle County Police have arrested 18-year-old Jeremiah White as well as two juveniles for drug and weapons related offenses stemming from a loitering violation in the community of Wilton.

(New Castle, Del. – 19720) On Tuesday (Feb 7) at about 2:45p.m., County Police Mobile Enforcement Team (MET) officer were conducting proactive patrol in the community of Wilton when they observed three individuals loitering in close proximity to a “No Loitering” sign in the area of Revelle St at Dean St.  When police attempted to stop the three males, all three fled on foot.  Police apprehended two juveniles and were unable to apprehend the third, later identified as Jeremiah White.  Officer located a fully loaded handgun, with a round chambered, as well as marijuana in possession of one of the juveniles.

MET Officers were able to positively identify Jeremiah White and obtained a search warrant for his residence in the unit block of Fairhaven Ct.  MET officers served the search warrant on Friday (Feb 10) at about 11:30 a.m., but Jeremiah White was not home.  Upon a search, police located marijuana, pills and drug paraphernalia, as well as a shotgun and handgun with an extended magazine.  Upon further inspection, officers found that the shotgun had been reported stolen.

MET officers located Jeremiah White and took him into custody without incident later that day.

Jeremiah White was charged with two counts of possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of a controlled substance and a firearm at the same time, receiving a stolen firearm, possession of a prescription without a script and possession of drug paraphernalia.  He was arraigned and committed to Young Correctional Institution after failing to post $50,000 cash-only bail.  He was issued a no contact order with the community.

The juvenile who possessed the handgun and marijuana was charged with possession of a handgun by a person under 18, possession of a controlled substance and a firearm at the same time, carrying a concealed firearm, possession of marijuana, resisting arrest and loitering.  He was arraigned and committed to the New Castle County Detention Center after failing to post $6,750 cash-only bail.  He was issued a no contact order with the community.

The other juvenile was charged with resisting arrest and loitering.  He was released to a family member on $1,050 unsecured bail.  He was issued a no contact order with the community.
