New Castle County Police have arrested Anthony Allen, 31, and Matthew Wainwright, 27, for burglary and related charges in the Claymont and North Wilmington area. Detectives believe they may be responsible for more and are asking for the public’s assistance.
During the month of February, 2017, County Property Detectives investigated a series of burglaries in the area Claymont and North Wilmington. Through the investigation, detectives were able to identify Anthony Allen and Matthew Wainwright as the suspects and ultimately arrest them on Feb 22.
Detectives charged the pair with burglaries in the communities of Carpenter Woods, Radnor Green, Wycliffe and Rolling Park, but believe they may be responsible for more in that area. Detectives believe Anthony Allen and Matthew Wainwright were driving a purple 1994 Chevrolet Cavalier (pictured below) to commit burglaries. Detectives are asking anyone that recognizes or remembers Anthony Allen and/or Matthew Wainwright in their communities to contact Detective McNasby (MJMcNasby@nccde.org).
Anthony Allen, who resides in the 3000 block of East Brandywine Ave in Claymont, was charged with three counts of second-degree burglary, three counts of felony theft, two counts of second-degree conspiracy, felony unlawful use of a credit card, two counts of failure to register as a sex offender, misdemeanor theft, two counts of criminal mischief, third-degree conspiracy and resisting arrest. He was arraigned and committed to Young Correctional Institution after failing to post $47,200 cash only bail.
Matthew Wainwright, who resides in the unit block of Matthews Ave in Wilmington, was charged with two counts of second-degree burglary, three counts of felony theft, two counts of second-degree conspiracy, two counts of criminal mischief, receiving stolen property, resisting arrest and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arraigned and committed to Young Correctional Institution after failing to post $30,200 cash only bail.
Both defendants were issued no contact orders with the victims.
