New Castle County Police have arrested 22-year-old Daqwan Vincent for firearm and drug charges in the community of Wilton.
(New Castle, Del. – 19720) Last night (July 12) at about 10:45p.m., County Police Community Engagement Specialists (CES) responded to the community of Wilton to conduct foot patrol after receiving complaints of drug activity. CES officers conducted foot patrol in the community and observed a red Mazda sedan parked in the overflow parking lot on Baylis Street. CES officers observed that the vehicle had a crowd of people around it. As CES officers approached the vehicle, they detected the odor of marijuana. Upon making contact with the group, CES officers observed a bag of marijuana on the roof of the vehicle.
CES officers collected information from the group and found that one person, later identified as Daqwan Vincent, provided a false name. When they discovered Daqwan Vincent’s actual name, police found that he was wanted on unrelated charges. During a search incident to his arrest, CES officers located a loaded handgun concealed in his pants’ waistband.
Daqwan Vincent, of the unit block of Baylis St, was charged with carrying a concealed firearm, possession of a firearm while possessing drugs, criminal impersonation and possession of marijuana. He was arraigned and committed to Young Correctional Institution after failing to post $13,501 cash-only bail.
No other arrests were made during this incident.
