NEW CASTLE COUNTY POLICE ARREST DELAWARE CITY MAN FOR BURGLARY

.(New Castle, DE 19720) Last Monday (July 16) New Castle County Police patrol officers were dispatched to the unit block of Gainor Road in the community of Chelsea Estates for a burglary in progress.  Prior to their arrival, the officers learned that two brothers, an 18-year-old and 15-year-old were home alone and heard loud knocks at the front door.   One of the brothers looked out the front door and saw a subject walking towards the rear of the residence. The brother then heard a loud bang and the sound of glass breaking.

 

The officers arrived on scene and learned that the subject had entered the residence. The brothers reported that the subject came into the house and then ran away when he saw the brothers.  The officers checked the area but were not able to locate the subject.

 

Detectives then assumed the investigation.   Based on surveillance footage they were able to identify 40-year-old, Thomas Johnson as the suspect.  Further investigation revealed additional evidence and on Tuesday (July 17), Thomas Johnson was taken into custody.

 

Thomas Johnson was then transported to New Castle County Police Headquarters and charged with one count felony Burglary 2nd degree, and one count misdemeanor Criminal Mischief. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and held in lieu of $10,250 cash-only bail
