POLICE INVESTIGATE CAR CRASHING INTO HOUSE.

(Newark, De 19702) Last Sunday (Mar 24) at 6:45 p.m., officers from the New Castle County Division of Police were dispatched to the 400 block of Jaymar Blvd, in the community of Salem Woods reference a motor vehicle accident.  When the officers arrived at the scene, they saw that a car had been driven into a house and they also located two injured people.

The New Castle County Division of Police Traffic Services Unit was notified and took up the investigation.  Their investigation revealed that 45-year-old Cassandra Lamar had been driving a 2005 BMW X3 with her 5-year-old nephew on her lap.  The investigation also revealed that Lamar allowed her nephew to work the steering wheel while she worked the pedals.   As they pulled into the driveway of a residence on Jaymar Blvd the pair lost control of the vehicle causing the BMW to hit a parked car then continue on and drive into the side of a house.

Both Lamar and her nephew were taken to a local hospital for medical treatment. Lamar sustained minor injuries to her face and was treated and released. Her nephew was admitted for major nonlife-threatening injuries.

Cassandra Lamar was charged with 1 count felony Reckless Endangering 1st, one count misdemeanor Vehicular Assault 2nd, one count DUI, 2 counts of Seatbelt Violations, one count Failure to have a License in Possession, once count Failure to have Registration Card in Possession, and one count Failure to have Insurance Documentation in Possession.

Today, (Mar 27)  Cassandra Lamar was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released after posting $1505 Cash Bail.
