POLICE INVESTIGATE CRASH INVOLVING A PATROL CAR

(Newark, Del. 19702) Earlier today (January 13, 2020) at 1:38 p.m., patrol officers from the New Castle County Division of Police were dispatched to the intersection of Walther Road and Pulaski Highway for a report of a car crash involving a patrol car.

The investigation revealed that a Hyundai Tucson was turning left from East Pulaski Highway onto Walther Road when it was struck by a fully marked New Castle County patrol vehicle that was traveling Westbound on Pulaski Highway.

The Hyundai Tucson was being operated by a 61-year-old female. The marked New Castle County Police patrol vehicle was being operated by an officer on duty.

The driver of the Hyundai as well as the officer were taken to an area hospital for minor non life threatening injuries.

This is an active and ongoing investigation by the Traffic Services Unit.
