POLICE ARREST DRIVER AFTER FINDING DRUGS AND A RIFLE IN CAR

(Newark, DE 19702) Last Sunday (Feb 2), patrol officers from the New Castle County Division of Police were stationary on Curlew Circle in the community of Sparrow Run when they had an opportunity to stop a gold, Ford Explorer.

The driver of the Explorer was 31-year-old, Jeremy Whitt.  An investigation into the vehicle ensued and the officers were able to seize: 72.4 grams of marijuana and a Century Arms C93, a 5.56 caliber handgun, loaded with 17 rounds of .223 ammunition.

Jeremy Whitt was then taken into custody and his passenger was released.  Whitt was transported to New Castle County Division of Police Headquarters and charged with: one count of felony Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon, two counts of felony Possession of a Firearm/ Ammunition by a Person Prohibited, misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana More Than Personal Use, one count misdemeanor Endangering the Welfare of a Child, one count of Driving While Suspended or Revoked and one count of Failure to Signal Turn.

Whitt has arraigned Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released on $17,000 unsecured bail.
