POLICE INVESTIGATE FATAL ACCIDENT ON LEVELS ROAD

(Middletown, DE 19709) Earlier today (Feb 29), officers from the New Castle County Division of Police were dispatched to the area of Levels Road, for a report of a fatal motor vehicle accident.

Upon arrival, the officers discovered that a 2005 Ford F-350 struck a 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan. The officers were able to determine that the Ford F-350 was traveling Southbound on Route 301 and attempted to overtake a traffic jam by driving on the grassy area of Route 301. While attempting to merge back onto the road, the driver lost control of the vehicle and entered the Northbound lanes of Levels Road. The F-350 then struck a 2007, Dodge, Grand Caravan.

The driver of  the Dodge Caravan, a 34-year-old was transported to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead. The passenger in the vehicle, a 10-year-old juvenile, was transported to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Ford F-350 was not injured in the crash.

The New Castle County Division of Police Traffic Services Unit arrived at the scene and assumed the investigation.

The investigation is still ongoing however alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
