INVESTIGATION UPDATE: POLICE INVESTIGATE AN OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING

(New Castle, DE 19720) Investigators from the New Castle County Division of Police, Criminal Investigations Unit, have identified the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle as 30-year-old, Lymond Moses of Bear, DE.

The patrol officers involved, a 10-year veteran and a 3-year veteran, have both been placed on administrative leave per New Castle County Division of Police Policy.

This is still a very active investigation and is being conducted by detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police, Criminal Investigation Unit, members of the Professional Standards Unit, and the Delaware Department of Justice, Office of Division of Civil Rights and Public Trust.

Chief of Police, Colonel Vaughn M. Bond, Jr. stated “The events of this morning are tragic as the lives of our officers and the Moses family have been forever altered. I can assure those we serve that we are committed to conducting a thorough and exhaustive investigation to determine exactly what occurred during the officers interactions with Mr. Moses.”
