POLICE INVESTIGATES VEHICLE COLLISION IN THE COMMUNITY OF WELLINGTON HILLS

(Hockessin, DE 19707) Yesterday evening (July 10th, 2021) at approximately 09:57 P.M., Officers from the New Castle County Division of Police were dispatched to the area of Pierson Drive in the community of Wellington Hills for a report of vehicle accident.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a two-car accident involving a silver Honda Insight & a Teal Kia Telluride. The silver Honda was being operated by a juvenile while the Kia Telluride was operated by a 38-year-old female.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the Kia Telluride was traveling northbound on Pierson Drive at the time of the collision. The Honda Insight was traveling high rate of speed southbound on Pierson Drive in the opposite direction. On the area of the 100th block of Pierson Drive, the Honda Insight drove left of center and struck the Kia head-on. The juvenile driver was trapped in the Honda for approximately 40 minutes prior to being transported to a local area hospital where he is listed in critical condition. The driver of the Kia Telluride was transported to a local area hospital and is in stable condition.

The investigation is still ongoing; however, it appear that speed is a factor.
