FIREARM FRIDAY FOR OCTOBER 29TH

In a continuing effort to bring attention to gun arrests that are made by the New Castle County Division of Police, we bring you another Firearm Friday.  These postings will encompass a selection of recent firearm arrests made by our officers.

(New Castle, DE 19720) On Tuesday October 19th, Task Force officers from the New Castle County Division of Police were conducting an investigation on 20-year-old Jayden Cooper.  The officers located him in the area of Holloway Terrace Park in the community of Holloway Terrace.   

The officers conducted surveillance and observed him walking down West Ave.  The officers attempted to stop him reference an outstanding warrant however Cooper fled on foot. 

The officers were able to make the apprehension a short time later.  During the arrest, the officers noted that Cooper was found to be in possession of Oxycodone.  When the officers searched the area where Cooper ran,  they located a hidden 9mm handgun.

Cooper was transported to police headquarters and charged with one count of felony Possession of a Weapon by a Person Prohibited (Controlled Substance), one count of felony Carrying a Concealed Deady Weapon (Firearm) and one count of misdemeanor Possession of a Controlled Substance.  He was arraigned by the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and held in lieu of $5250 cash bail.

Jayden Cooper

(Claymont, DE 19703) During the month of September 2021, detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police Drug Control Squad  began an investigation into 31-year-old Tracey Floyd, Jr for selling heroin, cocaine, and prescription medications throughout New Castle County. Throughout the course of the investigation, Floyd was believed to be operating a 2013 Black Dodge Charger and resided on Benning Road in Claymont.

The detectives were eventually able to author search warrants for his house and the vehicle. On Wednesday October 27th the detectives were able to execute the warrants assisted by the New Castle County Division of Police Special Weapons and Tactics Team, Mobile Enforcement Team,  the Crisis Negotiation Team and officers from the Uniformed Patrol Division. 

The search resulted in the seizure of 54 grams of fentanyl (over 125 bags packaged for sale and one large bag unpackaged) a .22 caliber revolver, several rounds of ammunition, a small amount of marijuana, several prescription pills, drug packaging materials, and $2,378.00 in cash.

Floyd was also taken into custody at this house and transported to police headquarters.  There he was charged with one count of felony Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, five counts  of felony Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance, one count of misdemeanor Possession of a Controlled Substance, one count of misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and issued a civil violation for Possession of Marijuana.

He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and held in lieu of $47,400 cash bail.

Tracey Floyd

(New Castle, De 19720) Earlier this morning (Oct 29), at approximately 12:05 a.m., officers from the New Castle County Division of Police Mobile Enforcement Team were patrolling the area of Wilton Blvd when they were able to conduct a traffic stop on a silver Chevrolet Malibu. 

During the course of the vehicle stop, the officers were able to search the vehicle.  One of the occupants, 29-year-old Dacrysha Flowers was found to be in possession of Ecstasy, a digital scale and a .380 caliber handgun.

When the officers ran the serial number of the firearm, they learned that the gun was stolen out of the City of Wilmington.

Flowers was taken into custody and transported to police headquarters. There she was charged with one count of felony Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon (Firearm), once count felony Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited, one count of felony Receiving a Stolen Firearm, and two counts of misdemeanor Possession of a Controlled Substance.  She was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11 and held in lieu of $4700 cash bail.
