POLICE OFFICER ATTACKED BY DOG IN HARMONY HILLS

(Newark, DE 19711) Yesterday afternoon (Mar 24), patrol officers from the New Castle County Division of Police were dispatched to a domestic incident in the 600 block of Tamara Circle in the development of Harmony Hills.  As the officer walked from his vehicle to the scene,  a dog resembling a pit-bull terrier crossed the street and ran at the officer.  The officer attempted to get back inside his vehicle, but the dog kept running at him.

Unfortunately, the officer was forced to draw his firearm and shoot the dog.

The dog was located and transported to a local animal hospital where it was treated for its wounds.

No civilians or officers were injured during this incident.

An investigation is ongoing.
