(New Castle, 19720) Yesterday, July 6th, at approximately 07:18 P.M., patrol officers were dispatched to the intersection of Maple Avenue and Stanton Avenue in the community of West Minquadale for the report of a shooting that had just occurred.

When the officers arrived, they located a 20-year-old male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to his lower extremity. The victim was transported to a local area hospital, where he is in stable condition.

Detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police Criminal Investigations Unit arrived at the scene and assumed the investigation. 

The investigation is still in its early stages and very active.
