Bicycle Stolen from Student at Bear Library

New Castle County Police are searching for a suspect accused of taking a bicycle from the Bear Library belonging to a 14-year-old who rides the bike to and from the bus stop.

(Bear, Del.-19701) On Wednesday (9/7) New Castle County Police responded to the 300 block of Green Street in Bear for the report of a theft of a bicycle.  The officer arrived on scene and contacted the 14-year-old victim who stated he rode his bicycle to the library at approximately 6:30 a.m.  The victim advised he used a lock to secure his bicycle and then got on the school bus.

The victim continued and stated he returned to the library after school at approximately 4:20 p.m. and saw that his bicycle was missing but the lock used to secure the bike had been cut and left on scene.

Officers reviewed surveillance cameras and observed a male subject, wearing a blue, white, and gray or tan camouflage hooded sweatshirt with a white Adidas logo, dark gray sweatpants, white sneakers, and a black backpack cut the lock and remove the bicycle.

The bicycle is described as a red and black Mongoose Mountain bicycle (see photo).
