Detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police, Criminal Investigations Unit, Family Services Squad have charged David Cross, 74, a registered sex offender of Wilmington with multiple counts of sexual assault.
Detectives began an investigation into Cross in February 2021 during which time a 32-year-old female victim disclosed a sexual assault that occurred when she was between the ages of 6 and 10. This initial investigation led detectives to additional victims.
Additional victims were interviewed earlier this year, and it was determined that the assaults took place between 1996 and 2000 in Woodmill Village. The victims were all between the ages of 6 and 10 when the assaults took place.
Detectives conducted a search warrant on David’s residence earlier this week and located evidence specific to their investigation.
David Cross was charged with unlawful sexual intercourse first degree, four counts of unlawful sexual contact second degree, continuous sexual abuse of a child, unlawful sexual penetration third degree, dangerous crime against a minor under 14, and sexual exploitation of a child.
Cross was arraigned by a JP Court 11 magistrate and remanded to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of two-million dollars cash bail.
