New Castle, DE (19720) – On January 9, 2025, around 4:00 a.m., patrol officers were dispatched to the unit block of Reads Way following a report of a person lying in the roadway. The victim, a 54-year-old male, was initially believed to have been struck by an unknown vehicle that fled the scene. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

The Traffic Services Unit responded to the scene and began their investigation. However, after further analysis and an autopsy conducted by the Medical Examiner’s Office, it was determined that the victim had no injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle or being assaulted. As a result, the case has been forwarded to the Criminal Investigations Unit for follow up.
