DETECTIVES ARREST 13-YEAR-OLD FOR HOMICIDE-KIMBERTON

(Newark, DE 19713) On Sunday, March 16, 2025, at approximately 3:06 p.m., Officers from the New Castle County Division of Police responded to the unit block of Clarion Court in the community of Kimberton for reports of multiple gunshots.

Upon arrival, Officers discovered that two residences on Clarion Court had been struck by gunfire. While searching the area for evidence, they were notified that a victim with a gunshot wound to his upper body had arrived at Christiana Hospital by private vehicle. Despite life-saving efforts, the victim, identified as 19-year-old Jahliel Jackson, was later pronounced deceased. 

Detectives from the Division’s Major Crimes Unit and Evidence Detection Unit responded to the scene and assumed the investigation.

Their investigation identified a 13-year-old male from Wilmington as a suspect. The juvenile was charged with the following:

• One Count of Murder in the First Degree
• One Count of Possession of Deadly Weapon by a Person Prohibited under 21
• One Count of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony

The juvenile was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the New Castle County Detention Center after failing to pay $170,000 cash bail.
