(Newark, DE 19713) On Friday, August 29, 2025, around 2:10 p.m., Patrol Officers with the New Castle County Division of Police responded to the unit block of Fairway Road in Hunters Crossing for reports of juveniles trying to steal cars. It was reported that the suspects arrived in a white Hyundai Sonata, which was later confirmed stolen from the complex two days earlier.
An officer in the area spotted the car and attempted to stop it; however, the teens fled, and ultimately crashed the car on Delaplane Ave, and ran off. Officers quickly responded to the area and were able to locate the two suspects, a 15-year-old of Wilmington and a 15-year-old female of New Castle.
The 15-year-old male and 15-year-old female were both charged with the following:
- Theft of a Motor Vehicle
- Attempted Theft of a Motor Vehicle
- Receiving Stolen Property Value Over $1500
- 3 Counts of Conspiracy Second Degree
- Criminal Mischief under $1000
- Criminal Trespass Third Degree
Both juveniles were arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released on $3,051.00 unsecured bail.
