Echo, a German Shepherd born on February 15, 2015, in Slovakia, joined the Division in 2016. Dual-trained in narcotics detection and tracking, he served faithfully with his handler, Retired Master Corporal Steven Donahue, until their retirement on November 4, 2020.

During his career, Echo assisted in numerous apprehensions and showed strong tracking skills. His work supported efforts to locate missing persons and apprehend suspects, making him a valued member of the Division’s K9 Unit.

In retirement, Echo enjoyed life at home with Ret. M/Cpl. Donahue and his family. He loved playing fetch with his Kong and remained a devoted companion until his sudden illness. When Echo was diagnosed with a mass around his heart, Ret. M/Cpl. Donahue made the difficult but compassionate decision to let him go peacefully. Echo was laid to rest on October 2nd.

K9 Echo will be remembered for his service to the Division and community, and for the loyal partnership he shared with his handler. We extend our heartfelt condolences to Ret. M/Cpl. Donahue and his family.
