(Wilmington, DE 19805) On Thursday, January 8, 2026, officers from the New Castle County Division of Police responded to the area of Rhode Island Avenue and Wagoner Drive in the Woodland Park community regarding a robbery that occurred the previous day.
Upon arrival, Officers spoke with the victim, who stated that he was attempting to sell several watches that he had advertised on a social media account. A potential buyer contacted him and instructed him to park in a specific area to complete the sale. While sitting in his vehicle, he was approached by masked suspects armed with a handgun. The suspects demanded the victim turn over the watches before fleeing the scene in their vehicle.
Detectives from the Division’s Criminal Investigations Unit were notified and took over the investigation. Following a thorough and extensive investigation, they identified the suspects as 19-year-old Julien Dunne of Elsmere and 18-year-old John Shaw III of Wilmington.
On Wednesday, February 25, 2026, Detectives assigned to the Fugitive Apprehension & Surveillance Team located both suspects. Julien Dunne was taken into custody without incident at a residence on Vilone Road in Wilmington.
On the same date, John Shaw III was located operating a maroon Jeep on Faulkland Road in Wilmington. When officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, Shaw fled at a high rate of speed. He was subsequently apprehended in the Jeep near Montgomery Road and Field Road.
Both suspects were transported to New Castle County Police Headquarters and charged as follows:
Julien Dunne:
- One felony count of Robbery First Degree
- One felony count of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
- One felony count of Conspiracy Second Degree
Dunne was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $41,000 cash bail.
John Shaw III:
- One felony count of Robbery First Degree
- One felony count of Conspiracy Second Degree
- One felony count of Disregarding a Police Officer’s Signal
- One violation of Unreasonable Speed
Shaw was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $20,500 cash bail.
