(Middletown, Del. 19709) – On Friday, September 11, 2026, at approximately 5:00 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 800 block of Ridge Court in the Cantwell Ridge community for a reported disturbance inside a residence. The suspect, later identified as 22-year-old James Alie, had fled the residence prior to officers’ arrival.

Officers gathered information regarding the disturbance and determined that Alie had physically confronted a victim inside the residence, resulting in property damage. During the dispute, Alie confronted another victim and threatened to cause them serious physical injury if they called 911. When the victim attempted to call 911, Alie physically assaulted the victim and took their cell phone, preventing them from contacting police.

The victim and several children were able to flee to a safe location, where they called 911 and reported the incident.

As officers arrived and began searching for Alie, an officer located him standing on the roof of another residence in the 800 block of Ridge Court. As additional officers arrived, Alie jumped from the neighboring residence’s roof. Officers then took Alie into custody. Emergency medical services also responded and provided medical aid to Alie.

As officers continued their investigation, they located remnants of a fire in a downstairs living area and determined that Alie had started the fire while several people were inside the residence. Due to the fire, the Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office was contacted to assist with that portion of the investigation.

Alie was transported to New Castle County Police Headquarters, where he was arraigned and charged with the following offenses:

• Three felony counts of Aggravated Menacing
• One felony count of Robbery Second Degree
• Three misdemeanor counts of Terroristic Threatening
• Three misdemeanor counts of Criminal Mischief Under $1,000
• Two misdemeanor counts of Assault Third Degree
• Two misdemeanor counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child
• One misdemeanor count of Theft Under $1,500
• One misdemeanor count of Malicious Interference with Emergency Communications
• One misdemeanor count of Breach of Release
• One misdemeanor count of Criminal Trespass Second Degree

The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office also charged Alie with:

• Four felony counts of Reckless Endangering First Degree
• One felony count of Arson in the First Degree

James Alie was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $74,000 cash bail.

(Wilmington, DE 19802) On Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at approximately 6:44 p.m., detectives assigned to the Active Crime Trends Team conducted proactive patrols in the Pennrose community when they observed a Chevrolet Trax committing a traffic violation, leading to a traffic stop in the 4100 block of Market Street.

During the traffic stop, officers identified the passenger as 28-year-old Jalen Jackson of Wilmington. Jackson was found to have numerous outstanding warrants and was immediately detained. As officers continued their investigation, they located a bag belonging to Jackson inside the vehicle that contained a fully loaded handgun with an extended magazine.

Jackson was transported to New Castle County Police Headquarters, where he was charged with the following:

• One felony count of Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited

• One felony count of Possession of Ammunition by a Person Prohibited

• One civil violation of Possession of a Large Capacity Magazine

Jalen Jackson was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $30,100 cash bail.

The driver of the vehicle was not charged and was released.

(Newark, DE 19713) – On Saturday, September 5, 2026, at approximately 5:14 a.m., officers from the New Castle County Division of Police responded to the 100 block of Melodic Drive in the community of Harmony Woods for a report of a flatbed tractor-trailer that had struck multiple parked vehicles.

Upon arrival, officers located the driver, identified as 53-year-old Brian Johnston of Newark, who was displaying signs of impairment. Officers administered standard field sobriety tests, which indicated that Johnston was impaired.

As officers continued their investigation, they recovered illegal narcotics, including crack cocaine and fentanyl, as well as prescription medications and drug paraphernalia from inside the tractor-trailer.

The investigation revealed that Johnston was driving a white International tractor-trailer on Medley Drive when he struck two parked vehicles. He continued onto Duet Drive, where he struck three additional vehicles. Johnston then turned onto Melodic Drive, where he struck two more vehicles, before turning onto Acapella Court, where he struck five additional vehicles. During the incident, Johnston also struck a street sign and four mailboxes.

Johnston eventually stopped the tractor-trailer and exited the vehicle. Officers and emergency medical personnel were notified and arrived shortly thereafter, locating Johnston on Melodic Drive.

Johnston was taken into custody without further incident and transported to New Castle County Police Headquarters, where he was charged with the following offenses:

• Twelve Misdemeanor Counts of Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Collision

• Twelve Misdemeanor Counts of Failure to Provide Information at a Collision Scene

• Three Misdemeanor Counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance

• One Misdemeanor Count of Operating a Commercial Vehicle While Impaired by Drugs

• One Misdemeanor Count of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

• Twelve Violations of Leaving the Scene of an Accident Involving a Commercial Motor Vehicle

• Twelve Violations of Failure to Report a Collision to a Police Agency

• One Violation of Inattentive Driving

Brian Johnston was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 3 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $3,825 secured bail.
