(Wilmington, DE 19808)- On Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at approximately 3:03 p.m., Officers with the New Castle County Division of Police were conducting a proactive patrol in the area of Governor Printz Boulevard when they initiated a motor vehicle stop on a black Ford Crown Victoria near Prospect Drive for having no registration plate.
The driver, 29-year-old Michael Whittaker of Wilmington, was also found to be operating the vehicle with a suspended license. While speaking with Whittaker outside of his vehicle, he became aggressive toward the officers, leading to a physical altercation. During the incident, one Officer sustained minor injuries. Following the altercation, Whittaker continued to escalate the incident by making threats of violence toward the responding Officers.
Michael Whittaker was transported to New Castle County Police Headquarters, where he has been charged with the following offenses:
One felony count of Assault Second Degree (injury to a law enforcement officer)
One felony count of Resisting Arrest with force
One misdemeanor count of Terroristic Threatening
One misdemeanor count of driving while suspended
One violation of the operation of an unregistered motor vehicle
One violation of improper lane change
One violation of failure to signal
One violation of operating a vehicle with improper tinted window.
Michael Whittaker was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released on $ 7,500.00 unsecured bail.
(Newark, DE 19702) On Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at approximately 11:46 a.m., officers with the New Castle County Division of Police responded to the 100 block of Flamingo Drive in the Sparrow Run community following a report of a robbery that had just occurred in the parkland.
Through their investigation, Officers and responding Detectives determined that the victim was approached by 21-year-old Terrance Summers of Newark, who attempted to initiate a physical altercation. Terrance Summers, along with 43-year-old Lizbeth Summers and 47-year-old Tyrell Summers, also of Newark, then engaged in a physical altercation with the victim.
During the incident, Lizbeth Summers removed a handgun from her waistband and struck the victim with it. She also took property belonging to the victim before all three suspects fled the area in a vehicle.
After identifying the suspects, patrol officers located all three family members on Curlew Circle and took them into custody without incident.
All the suspects were transported to New Castle County Police Headquarters and charged as follows:

Lizbeth Summers was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Delores J. Baylor Womenโs Correctional Institution on $26,000.00 secured bail.
